Turn on two-step verification
Protect your password sign-in with a code from an authenticator app, and keep your recovery codes safe.
Updated October 28, 2026
With two-step verification, signing in with your password also asks for a 6-digit code. The code comes from an authenticator app on your phone. Someone who learns your password still cannot sign in without your phone.
If you sign in with Microsoft, Microsoft's own two-step verification protects that sign-in instead.
What you need
- Your phone with an authenticator app. Any app that makes time-based 6-digit codes works.
- A safe place to keep 10 recovery codes, for example a password manager.
Turn it on
- Sign in and open your account settings in the panel: panel.playstrawberry.net/profile.
- Find Two-step verification and press Set up.
- Add this account to your authenticator app. On your phone, press Open in authenticator app. On a computer, type the Setup key into the app.
- Type the 6-digit code your app shows, and press Turn on.
- Your 10 recovery codes appear. Press Copy codes and save them somewhere safe now. They are not shown again.
We send you an email when two-step verification is turned on.
Sign in with a code
- Sign in with your email address and password as usual.
- Type the 6-digit code from your authenticator app, and press Sign in.
The code changes every 30 seconds. If it is not accepted, wait for the next one.
Lost your phone? Use a recovery code
- Sign in with your email address and password.
- On the code step, type one of your recovery codes instead of the app's code.
- Each recovery code works only once.
After signing in, set up two-step verification on your new phone. Then make new recovery codes.
New recovery codes
- Open your account settings and find Two-step verification. It shows how many recovery codes you have left.
- Type a code from your app, or a recovery code, and press New recovery codes.
- Save the new codes. The old ones no longer work.
New recovery codes and turning it off need a recent sign-in and a current code.
